Career Highlights:
Ellen Naylor brings over 20 years of marketing experience in the telecommunications, retail, and transportation industries and has also worked as a consultant in many other industries. In 1993, she founded The
Business Intelligence Source, a consulting company that specializes in opportunity assessment and
competitive intelligence process development.
A couple of Ellen's career highlights include initiating Bell Atlantic's competitive intelligence effort for commercial business, where she developed a process to capture competitive information from numerous sources, including sales. At Northwest Airlines, Ellen worked in financial and economic competitive analysis, where she created an exhaustive quarterly forecasting report on key competitors.
Ellen is very active in the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP) and was a founder and president of its Minnesota chapter. She also served on the SCIP board of directors, won its Catalyst award in 1995, and has published articles in the SCIP Competitive Intelligence Magazine. She is an accomplished global speaker.
Ellen holds a BA in International Studies from the University of Notre Dame, and an MBA from the University of Virginia's Colgate Darden Graduate School of Business. She is fluent in French and has a working knowledge of Japanese.

Career Highlights:
Jim Thomas brings over 30 years of CI experience to the alliance, specializing in developing corporate
competitive intelligence systems and counterintelligence programs. He is considered an expert in developing the intelligence processes and training individuals to perform CI functions and prevent industrial espionage.
In his distinguished career, Jim developed and implemented the
competitive intelligence concept at three Fortune 100 firms, and has consulted on intelligence projects with over 50 firms. Jim served as a Federal Intelligence Operational Case Officer and Counterintelligence Agent, where he directed a number of challenging intelligence assignments in the U.S. and overseas. In addition, he was formerly a Professor of Psychology at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO. Jim is now president of the J. Thomas Consulting Group, Inc.
Jim is a member of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers, and has been an active member of the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP) since 1988, serving as the Secretary/Treasurer and on the Board of Directors. He won the SCIP Catalyst award in 2001.
Jim is a frequent speaker at
competitive intelligence conferences. He often presents seminars on "How to Value Intelligence in The Corporate World," "Counterintelligence - The Forgotten Competitive Intelligence Task," "Building a Dynamic Internal Intelligence Source Network," and "Contingency Planning: Taking Business Intelligence to the Next Level."
Mr. Thomas holds an MBA in Management as well as a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Psychology and Statistics. He is a private pilot whose hobbies include flying, hiking, reading and cross-country skiing.
